Wayanad Banasura Dam is situated in Banasura hills, Wayanad district, Kerala, India. Banasura Sagar Dam is an earth dam and is the largest of such dams in India and second largest earth dam in Asia. The dam is built across the Karamanathodu tributary of Kabani river. The dam water supports Kakkayam power project and is also used for irrigation purpose. There are many islands which were developed because of submerged dam water.
